Travel|Global Health|Y Mas!

Hi, I’m Katie, a Family Nurse Practitioner from San Francisco California. This blog documents my experiences and travels working for the Department of State Foreign Service. This position takes my family and I across the globe as I work in the health unit of U.S. government embassies (yes, there are fully functioning clinics inside U.S. Embassies!). Every 2-3 years we are posted to a new country. I’ll share the adventures (and challenges) of being a working mom in the foreign service, traveling with my spouse and toddler. I love coffee, wine and all things family practice and preventative medicine. I try and add interesting global health tidbits that I pick up along the way- I’m also more active on Insta so join me there!

Follow me on this crazy journey, and I hope you are inspired (just as I have been) to travel to places off the beaten path.

Interested in this career path? Check out the About the Foreign Service tab, where i explain how I got here what the job entails, and how’s it been going so far. Spoiler alert- It was and still is my dream job.
