Feliz Navidad Prospero Ano y Felicidad…

It’s been a great holiday season.

We spent Christmas morning at home baking and opening presents. For Christmas lunch we were fortunate to get an invite to the home of the local nurse I work with. We listened to Christmas music, ate fried rice and chicken and chatted with her friends and family that hail from all over- Kenya, Cameroon, Nigeria.

2022 was-a-year! It will always be known as the exciting year we joined the Foreign Service juxtaposed with being the year I lost my dad. The highs were high and the lows were very low…. We are looking forward to what 2023 has in store: CME conference for me, our next bid list (to determine where our next post will be!), and plenty of travels around Africa as well as more visitors. Bujumbura is treating us well and I feel so grateful for this job and lifestyle. These past 3 months have only solidified that this was 100% the right move for our family.

Hope everyone has a great 2023, thankful for family and friends current as well as those we have yet to meet!

A New Years Eve walk through our local park.

Ready, set, go!

Post park refreshments.

Not usually a fan of beer but this definitely quenches the thirst!

NYE festivities- booze, brochettes y bailando.

Old monk rum- if you don’t know, now you know!

Cheers to 2023!
